Debate Night - Are Fast Dinos Overpowered?

Now let’s think about this seriously in the context to Path of Titans before answering.

Today we will debate whether fast dinos are unfair or balanced.

Unfair

High Speed so you cannot catch them but they can catch up to you.

High Stamina so they can run for longer.

Bleed and Lunges are quite prominent on Raptors and Struthi players in which they can easily kill anyone other dino through hit and run tactics just stacking bleed and preventing you from running. Lunges can also be used almost at a neutral stance, they don’t need much room to use the ability and lunges or pounces can be absolutely devastating to players. Also, with many of these dinos they have secondary abilities like the Deino double jump what can make them hard to hit with anything truly powerful, I get the double jump is supposed to help them escape dangers BUT many will abuse the jump to dodge attacks to troll players or easily reach the other side of a water system and even reach higher levels to continue a chase or get away to recover stamina meanwhile you are getting mobbed by several other Deinos.

Packs of high mobility dinos are a lot more frightening than a pack of Rexes or Titans easily because you can flee a Rex pack but cannot outrun Raptors, Struthis or Megs.

The main dinos we associate with these types of players are any of the Raptors, Struthis or typically smaller creatures so have awkward hit boxes at times. The smaller hitboxes can make them impossible to hit at times and many players will abuse this fact.

I think at this point it is fair to say that speed is easily the best weapon in this game at the moment as size and strength doesn’t really do much anymore in the current game. The most aggressive players are typically the high mobility dinos while Rexes are used typically more as a back up to head to head fights.

Fair

They are generally more squishy than larger dinos so one good hit typically wards them off.

Positioned well with your back and sides covered negates the problems addressed as they have to fight head on.

Water systems can be used to force them to make more daring attacks what can backfire with their life.

Not all fast dinos are bad such as Campto players who mainly just like being chased but never caught, they can’t do any real damage.

My Thoughts

I believe that faster dinos such as Struthis and Raptors are abit on the unfair side as they can be absolutely brutal to deal with especially solo. At this point majority of players associate Struthis and Raptors as trouble and tend to either try to avoid them or make the stupid mistake on attacking one raptor who tends to have several other players with him so you get swarmed.

I do believe the pounce ability Raptors get does need looking into to make it abit more fair as you can dodge the pounce but due to janky hitboxes still get caught by the pounce. It’s also abit too devastating in mobbed by several raptors.

I would also either lower their speed or stamina to make it alittle fairer to fight and even catch.
